Overview

The Price Comparison Chrome Extension helps users track and compare property prices across Spanish real estate portals (Idealista.com and Fotocasa.es).

Data Collection & Use

Information We Collect:

• Property Data: Property IDs, prices, addresses, surface area, rooms, bathrooms extracted from Idealista.com and Fotocasa.es
• Usage Data: Price history, comparison results, and widget cache timestamps
• Browser Data: Page URLs visited on supported websites

How We Use Your Data:

• Display price history and changes on property pages
• Cache property data to improve performance (6-hour cache TTL)
• Store comparison data locally in your browser
• Track price changes across portals

Data Storage:

• Local Storage: All data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API
• Backend Server: Property data is sent to our backend server to:
  • Maintain price history database
  • Compare properties across portals
  • Generate statistics
• No Third-Party Sharing: We do not share your data with third parties

Permissions Explanation

• activeTab: Allows the extension to access and analyze property information on supported websites
• storage: Stores property history, cache, and statistics locally in your browser
• alarms: Updates price change badges and cleans up expired cache
• host_permissions (idealista.com, fotocasa.es): Required to inject the widget on property pages

Data Retention

• Cached widget data expires after 6 hours
• Property history is retained indefinitely on our backend
• You can clear all cached data from your browser settings anytime

Security

• Data transmission to our backend uses HTTPS
• No sensitive personal information is collected
• The extension does not track user identity
